Department of Pediatrics
Pediatric services at Lehigh Valley Health Network combine clinical expertise, ease of access and family-centered care in inpatient pediatric units supported by specialty services. The region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is a collaborative effort with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, offering immediate access to superb sub-specialty resources. A Level III neonatal intensive care unit is the most experienced in the area for premature and critically ill newborns, with 28 licensed neonatal beds and five full-time, board-certified neonatologists. A 20-bed Pediatric Inpatient Unit serves as a model for family-centered care with in-room sleeping accommodations for parents, a play center and a Child Life program to focus on the social, emotional and intellectual growth of children. Supporting inpatient units are a Level 1 Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatric trauma, pediatric burn care as part of the Regional Burn Center, and an experienced MedEvac air transport teams with on-board life support systems.
